About Ballyvaughan
May we introduce ourselves?
Welcome to Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare on the southern shores of Galway Bay. World reknown for its special natural environment, the area provides you with access to the Burren Way and a set of Looped Walks.
As we are on the water we have two fantastic piers designed and constructed by the famous Alexander Nimmo and as such can offer you arrival by sea as well as road. We are within 45 minutes driving time from Galway and Shannon / Limerick and 21/2 hours from Dublin.
But we are worlds apart.
When you come here you will discover, for yourself, why. It is spectacular, the people are welcoming and the natural environment inviting and safe. There is much for you to do here.
We have a Cycling club, Walking club, GAA Club (Girls and Boys), Kayaking, Sea Safety in summer, Film Club, Drama, TheKnittingClub(makerspace) and Craft Club, Motor Club, Speleology (Caving) Club and Tidy Towns Group, just to name a few. The Burren College of Art offers art and photography courses in the summer months and hosts exhibitions throughout the year.

The Ballyvaughan Community Development Group is concerned, in particular, with the general economic, environmental and social elements that are essential to the community and the overall well-being of a growing village in the focus of Irish tourism. There are three branches to the group: the Executive, the Trustees, and the Sub-Committees.
The Executive Committee consists of the six officers:
Chairperson: Patrick 'Donoghue, assisted by Mary Hawkes-Greene,
Secretary: Conor Fahy assisted by Cathleen Connole, Treasurer:

Assisting the main committee is a large body of hard working volunteers involved in the successful endeavours of various sub-committees. Their commitment and achievements are evident in the developments and hands-on work that enhance our village and our quality of life.
The sub-committees include the following groups:
- Archaeological and Historical
