Burren Players Back on Stage

‘Lend Me a Tenor’ a 2 act comedy written by Ken Ludwig will be the next production from the Burren Players. It is due to open at the Royal Spa Hotel Lisdoonvarna on Thursday 8th March for a 3 night run. Set in the suite of an old world hotel in Cleveland Ohio during the 1930s , it tells a story of mistaken identity , love and operatic aspirations and will be directed by Theresa Leahy from Ballyvaughan. The main characters are as follows; Max ( Mark Vaughan) , Maggie ( Tamar Keane) , Saunders ( Jim McCarthy) , Tito ( Andrew Grindrod) , Maria ( Mary Hawkes Greene) ,Diana ( Barbara Faulkner) ,Julia ( Doreen Drennan) , Bell Hop ( Andrew Nielsen). ‘Lend Me a Tenor’ was premiered in London’s West End in 1986 and opened on Broadway in 1989 where it was hailed at the time as one of the funniest farces to play there.

 

Ballyvaughan Film Society

The local film society enters it's 2nd Winter Season. Running from October 2011 to February 2012, they will show 10 international films including My Afternoons With Margueritte, Little White Lies, Benda Bilili and Life Above All. Screenings are every 2nd Monday at Burren College of Art. Season tickets are €50.00. A concession rate is available.
